After experimenting with AttnGAN and working with the language of the shipping forecast, ShippingGAN attempts to automate the stages between pulling live data from the Met Office and inputing it into the AttnGan and taking the image output to placing it onto a social platform. Instagram has been selected as the main platform of viewing as it is first and foremost a visual space and seeing as the output of images are 256 x 256 pixels, the square formatting of images on instagram works well with the programme. The images produced speak to the dream like state that the Shipping Forecast is known to evoke in people. For the past 152 years the Shipping Forecast has been recontextualised into being a calming, nostalgic radio update for the UK to relax to, and these computer generated images also assign themselves to that.
